Sunshine’s
Preseason Predictions
Like many of the Gamecock faithful, I too wonder
what the upcoming season will bring. I hate
to upset many of you that are hoping for a miracle
this season, but it won’t happen. Many
of you are thinking that we’ll go 9-2,
or even 10-1. Not gonna happen folks, as much
as I would love for it to. I do think we can
go 7-4 or 6-5, in fact I expect nothing less.
Let me tell you why. 1) We have no starting
quarterback as of yet, and I’m sorry,
but Blake Mitchell hasn’t proven to me
that he deserves to be a SEC quarterback. Do
I think he can get the job done? Yes. Do I think
he’ll be a superstar? No. 2) We’re
way to thin on the offensive line. The lack
of depth and talent tells me that even if we
had Chris Leak taking the snaps we would still
have problems getting the ball off. Hence why
Coach Spurrier has said we’ll be 50/50
on the passing and running game. Our defense
is going to have to step up this year and really
carry our offense through the season. Here are
my predictions as follows:
Central Florida – W
Georgia – L
Alabama – W
Troy – W
Auburn – L
Kentucky – W
Vanderbilt – W
Tennessee – L
Arkansas – W
Florida – L
Clemson – W
I say USC goes 7 & 4,and make it to a minor
bowl and look respectable to prospective 2006
signees. Don’t get me wrong, Spurrier
will win at Carolina and win big, but folks
its not going to happen over night. Let’s
be realistic, but lets also look forward to
an awesome upcoming season of football for USC.
